Diamond Heart
(To Elizabeth Taylor)

By Tatiana Pahlen

The Queen of diamonds,
Grand Dame Liz,
Hollywood's most glamorous.
This stunning woman
With a vibrant drive
And lust for love
Drove men wild.

In her magnetic violet eyes
The current swelled to high tide.
Notorious love affairs known worldwide
An avid fighter against Aids;
She drew millions to the quest.

Exuding a majestic Mantra,
Ever seductress Cleopatra,
Impeccable in her craft!

Were you afraid of Virginia Woolf
A drunken, cursing Martha?
Gaining weight for the wicked part,
Opposite her British flame –
Richard Burton;
Together they sparked fire.

Their intense passion
Burnt through screen and tabloids
Laying it all bare,
Provoking many, angering the Pope;
Equally matched
In scotch and scorching roles.

Her other marriages were a fleet in-transit
Except the late Mike Todd –
Though eternally connected to Burton,
Todd was deeper.

She will be forever admired
For initiating the Aids Auctions,
For her friendships with Michael Jackson
And the manly, rugged Rock Hudson,
For "National Velvet," which unleashed her stardom.

Her loyal fans suffered through many illnesses
Until the last took her away...
Yet no one forgets her enigmatic eyes.
Liz will be remain in our hearts. Always!
