Commander “Motorola” of Sparta
(In eternal memory of Arseny Pavlov)

By Tatiana Pahlen

They tried to kill you for two years
And finally succeeded. Bastards!
The cowards didn’t face you,
They planted a mine in your lift at home
Where your loving wife was waiting –
Also a fighter – defender of the besieged Donbas.

I watched your wedding on YouTube
It was magnificent and touching
Your bride wore a rifle on her arm
Your wounded arm held by a pouch sleeve.
Your courage must be written in a storybook;
The enemy envied your lion heart,
There were many attempts to assassinate you.

I sent you best wishes on your a new parenthood
You were the commander of the battalion Sparta
Your discipline and love for Donbas
Made your team follow your rules,
There were no drinks and no dope.
You earned respect for being strong.
You were best pals with “Somali” – Givi
Another fearless warrior!

I wept like a baby upon your demise
As soon as the news broke;
Forgive my tears,
I was feeling so much
That included your newborn child.

Just weeks ago I congratulated you
On the birth of that child,
You named your son Makar.
I was so full of hope and excitement
And now you are suddenly gone!

You will be remembered as a daring legend
Who showed kindness to the captured foes.
Rest in Peace Arseny Pavlov,
Known by many as “Motorola”.
The hero of Donbas
