Facing Mirrors
To Sylvia Plath
By Tatiana Pahlen

When beauty falls
with fleeting autumn
colors fading further more,
You notice in the glossy mirrors
nuisance playing off your face;
new shades you flaunt refuse to cover
the absent sparkle of your eyes,
a sudden fear cripples corners
of once appealing, pliant mouth.
Yet grace is lasting
and so is sageness
Gained with each and every line;
a sole highlight gets only brighter —
your sublime mind.
