Lost in the Current
By Tatiana Pahlen

Your smile was genuine; your gaze flowed far away
No swimmer could embark to these fleeting islands
They lured a current like a magnet day by day,
expanding lonely miles in burning silence,

leaving me to moan at the vacant bay.

Our lilacs withered erstwhile bloomed in May,
The ring that once engaged us lost its sparkle;
We both agreed there's not much to say
I failed to turn the earth I tried to tackle.
You held me tight; I kissed you farewell.
