Remorse
(To a colleague who broke her relationship with her mom at an early age)

By Tatiana Pahlen

When tears dried up
the prayers silenced,
the light transpired through the dark,
my mind is overwhelmed and tired,
Trying hard to fill the gap
between my heart
and mixed emotions,
That kept us growing far apart.

You laid to rest.
I'm surrendered
Oh, meditations and self-help!
While you've succumbed to vile breast cancer,
my life has changed,
I failed to witness
Your devastating last sunset;
How I wish I said
I love you,
Long before you left.
