Spared
Seed
By Tatiana
Pahlen
When they conceived me over night
No one believed the seed they spared
would grow large without light,
without water, bite or air.
I dwelled on strength of dust and felt
occasional sneezes of new arrivals
that held my nutrients at hand;
the burning neon was ultra vital.
I crawl daily from page to page
Observing lengths of my next flower
to pollinate or grow sage;
I line up trophies like towers.
I eschew sleep as you will learn
To keep my brain cells in good shape,
I nibble manuscripts and tomes;
What else to expect from a bookworm?
