Embark on distractions
Liberating Iraq
American soldiers
Sent abroad
to be beheaded
like sitting ducks
and slaughter the souls
Of their very own.

Countless veterans
Of prior wars
Remaining poignant
To a new road map
Crafted by Cheney,
Rumsfeld, Ashcroft
With legions of others
Behind the plot.

Saluting each day
To my adopted soil
I dread to part with
My own soul;
Penning these words today,
On July Fourth,
I plead for peace
And the end of force.
