Immortal Friendship
(To my late friend, Michael Goldman)
By Tatiana Pahlen

My dear friend, why did you die

The day I dialed your line?

Your vibrant, exuberant appearance

Didn’t suggest a heart attack.

You were a happy volunteer

For the stray dogs and cats,

For people who have great ideas,

You helped them to make ends meet.

You were an ardent supportive editor,

I’m grateful for your help.

I wish we had talked more about it,

Sadly it’s too late.
